If you're looking for a way to add some flare to your burger, then you've come to the right place. A Mediterranean-inspired burger topped with creamy Feta cheese and wrapped in a pita sends your tastebuds into a tizzy! Succulent, flavorful and a little lighter than the traditional hamburger, this recipe is totally perfect paired with a lighter beer or even a glass of white wine.
Ingredients:
For Burger:
1 pound ground beef
3 ounces Feta cheese, crumbled
1/4 cup pitted, finely chopped Kalamata olives
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
Sun-Dried tomato basil spread (recipe below)
4 lightly toasted pita wraps
For Sun-dried tomato basil spread:
1 cup mayonnaise
4 sun-dried tomatoes (hydrated)
1 tablespoon minced basil leaves
Directions:
Add the ground beef into a bowl and mix in the cheese, olives, salt and pepper until thoroughly combined throughout. Form 4 patties and place in an airtight container if not using immediately - this recipe is great to transport to picnics, tailgates or any other party!
To make your sun-dried tomato basil mayonnaise: Add the mayonnaise and sun-dried tomatoes into a blender and process until smooth. Stir in your basil leaves and transfer into an airtight container. Note: Keep mayo in a cooler on hot summer days for maximum freshness if you're transporting or eating out back.
Grill your burgers on a lightly oiled rack over medium-high heat, 5 minutes on each side for medium burgers. Meanwhile, on a clean space on the grill, toast your pitas.
When ready, spread the sun-dried tomato basil mayonnaise on the inside of the pita, top with chopped lettuce and a bit more feta and enjoy!
