A summer party gets a sweet addition in the form of a bowl full of fresh cherries. Rather than plopping your fruit in a bowl and calling it a day though, why not update this classic summertime fruit serving by soaking the cherries in Merlot?

The wine adds a flavor twist that, I promise, will make the recipe in-demand at all the rest of your summer parties.

Ingredients

Large bowl of fresh summer cherries of any variety
Bottle of Merlot wine (whichever is your favorite!)

Directions

Rinse your cherries thoroughly and dry. Then place the fruit in a large glass mixing bowl.

Pour the bottle of Merlot over the cherries and leave to sit a room temperature for 24 hours.

The next day, strain the red wine off the cherries and place them in the refrigerator to chill before you serve them to guests.

We love the taste of the cherries, but also appreciate the deep red color the fruit turns - so pretty!
