Opting for Chick Lit? Eschew the standard Cosmopolitan (Sex and the City, anyone?) for a classic Metropolitan. Brandy and sweet vermouth are mixed with simple syrup and bitters in this classy cocktail.

Ingredients

1.5 Oz Brandy
1 Oz Sweet Vermouth
a Splash Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Angostura bitters

Directions

Pour the brandy, sweet vermouth, simple syrup and bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
