Mexican Fiesta Theme Party: Food Stations

Anything goes at this celebracion! Serve chips in sombrero hats, decorate the main food station with Mexican serapes, and make the dessert station pop with a pinata centerpiece.

Sombrero Hat Chips and Salsa Bar

Get guests in the mood for a Mexican hat dance at your fiesta theme party by serving chips in sombrero rims!

• Place a bright-colored cloth on the table.

• Add a couple of sombrero hats on either end of a rectangular table or in the center of a round table.

• Line the inside of the hat rims with cloth napkins and pour chips into the rims.

• Put out a variety of salsas in small bowls for guests to enjoy.

• Use appetizer plates and napkins that have a fiesta theme.

• Embellish the table with maracas as accents!

A Taste of Mexico Food Station

Mexico is known for its colorful blankets and handmade pottery. Give guests a taste of Mexican culture by decorating the table in a south of the border style.

• Place a bright-colored cloth on the table and toss a Mexican serape or blanket on top as an overlay. Use striped fabric if a serape is unavailable.

• Set the scene by using a couple of cactus plants in Mexican pottery on the tabletop.

• Serve menu items on food-friendly Mexican pottery. Use terra cotta cooking vessels for stews or food that requires a bowl.

Pinata Dessert Station

Pinatas make a party more festive, whether they are hanging from a tree or perking up a table.

• Place a bright-colored cloth on the table.

• Set up a large pinata in the table's center.

• Arrange platters of food on either side of the piata.

• Scatter wrapped hard candy, party favors, and pinata fillers over table.

• Fill in with fiesta dessert platters and plates, napkins, and utensils for guests.
