Money Saving Tips for Wedding Flowers & Decor

We all know that when we’re in a hurry, we don’t necessarily make the best choices.

So the ideal way to plan a wedding is by allowing you and your fiance plenty of time for research and browsing.

Only by educating yourselves will you be able to make wise decisions, and probably save yourselves a good deal of money.

One area that offers plenty of financial flexibility is in the flowers and décor.

For instance, you can save money by ordering bouquets and centerpieces utilizing only flowers that are in season.

And the arrangements can be completely dictated by your budget – when it comes to wedding flowers, it’s all about quality, not quantity, so keep in mind that an experienced florist should be able to create beautiful arrangements regardless of your budget.

As for the overall décor, if you are on a limited budget look for a venue with a beautiful ambiance.

Outdoor features such as gazebos or gardens are already decorated for you!

Indoors, seek out spaces with interesting architectural details or stylish furnishings; in short, features that are pleasing to the eye and that won’t require too many extra enhancements from you.

Other ways to keep costs down include:

Consider utilizing plants or fruit baskets in lieu of elaborate floral centerpieces.

Enhance a simple floral arrangement by surrounding it with candles in all shapes and sizes.

Ask your florist how your flowers can serve triple duty – at the ceremony, then the reception and as favors.

Scout out interesting table décor at thrift stores, but stay within one theme: all white porcelain bowls that you can fill with floating flowers, for instance, or only silver candle sticks.

Consider hiring a special effects lighting company. Adding a color palette to the walls and ceiling can add a special, decorative ambiance to an otherwise bland ballroom.

Keep the decor simple and elegant. After all, you and your groom are the stars of the day!
