For a variation on handprint crafts, give Mom a show of hands.
Instead of a work of art, use handprints to create a pseudo flower arrangement. The addition of little notes written on each hand transforms these nonperishable flowers into an extra-special treat that mom will treasure much longer!
Supplies
Colorful paper
Scissors
Pens or colored pencils
Small dowels, wooden skewers, or straws (to use as stems)
Green craft paint (optional)
Small vase, flower pot or bowl
Craft glue
Florists foam
Directions

Step 1: Trace and cut out each childs' handprints using different colors of paper. Make as many as you want!

Step 2: Ask the kids to write one thing he or she loves about Mom on each handprint. It's best to keep these limited to one or two word messages if the kids are older. Encourage them to get creative with adjectives - it's fun seeing what they come up with, especially if this is a yearly gift. Mom will see their vocabulary grow as they do! For younger kids, help them out with the writing, too!

Step 3: Paint dowels, straws or skewers with green paint. They'll act as the "flower" stems and hold the hands in place.

Step 4: Next, just glue all the mounted handprints to the front of the stems. You might want to use translucent tape to secure, too.

Step 5: Finally, put florist foam in whatever vase you're using and insert your "flowers". Place decorative grass or candies around the base of the flowers to cover the florist foam and add a final decorative touch to the display of love with a ribbon wrapped around the center.
Gift to mom and give her a hand for being so great!
