This August, The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure hits theaters and we can’t wait. As parents, caregivers, aunts and uncles, the team here at Celebrations is anticipating the release of the film as much as the kids we care for. If you’re not familiar with the Oogieloves, allow us to fill you in a bit because if we’re right, the kids are going to go crazy for this movie and you will, too!

What Are The Oogieloves?

The better question to ask would be – who are the Oogieloves? Goobie, Zoobie and Toofie are the adorable characters who embark on an adventure to find five magical gold balloons for their good friend Schluffy’s surprise birthday party.

Along the way, they get some help from their best friends J. Edgar, Windy Window and Ruffy. They also meet some new friends (played by some major Hollywood stars like Christopher Lloyd, Cloris Leachman and Toni Braxton) during their adventure throughout LovelyLoveville – a beautiful place that’s reminiscent of the 1950s.

What Makes The Oogieloves Special?

For one thing, there’s never been something so fun and interactive in theaters before. The whole concept behind Oogieloves is to encourage its young audience to jump up, dance, sing and interact with what’s going on on-screen.

As creator Kenn Viselman told The Hollywood Reporter, he deconstructed the whole movie-going experience for kids, asking himself, “why would a child not be happy in a movie theater?”

The answer he came to was “what it really breaks down to in really simple terms is that young kids are asked to be adults when they go into the movie theater.”

So instead of telling them to “shh” and sit quietly for 2+ hours in the dark, Viselman has created a movie-going experience meant for kids and the very way they interact. While most other kid movies revolve around the kids sitting back and watching a story unfold, Oogieloves invites them to take part in the adventure.

What’s really great is how you’ll find yourself helping the kids interact with the film and its characters - this movie is truly an experience to share in with your child. And for young children, it’s so essential to spend quality time with them and interact with them in a positive way and The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure encourages just that!
