Whether you put Oreo cookies into this pouch like I did or your favorite homemade biscuits, this checkered packet makes a festive presentation for a Halloween party at home or in school.
Supplies
1 sheet each (8 1/2 x 11) orange & black cardstock
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Black letter stickers
Directions
Cut each sheet of cardstock into a 3-inch by 8-inch rectangle. Fold each rectangle in half to make each paper a 3-inch by 4-inch folded rectangl
Use the pencil to mark the 1 inch point and the 2 inch point along the FOLDED edge of each rectangle.
Use the ruler to draw a straight line from each point at the folded edge to 1/2 inch from unfolded edge. Cut along the line starting at the folded edge and stopping 1/2 inch from the unfolded edge.
Refer to Photo 1. Start weaving your pouch leading with the folded edge of an outer orange strip. Insert a black strip into the orange – then insert the orange into the black – and finally the last black strip into the orange.
Reverse the weave for the next row as in Photo 2 by inserting the orange into the black, black into orange, and then orange into black.
Reverse the weave again for the final row, following the pictured steps in Photos 3 and 4.
Make sure that you insert the strips inside each other with every weave so the envelope opens when you are finished as in Photo 5.
Spell “cookies” using letter stickers on the front of the pouch.
Fill the pouch with cookies and eat them or give them to your friends, teacher, or your family members as a Halloween treat!
