The 82nd Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball will be highlighted by a style that depicts designs of the late 1930s "Streamline Moderne" with a contemporary edge.
The overall design scheme was inspired by the work of artists such as Paul Williams, known for his Saks Fifth Avenue ceiling treatments with their dramatic lighting, and Dorothy Draper, whose curve design became a benchmark style in hotel decor. The color palette of this year's Governors Ball will include lavish layers of charcoal iridescent taffeta with platinum and cognac matte satins. Fabric overlays of amethyst tulle and champagne glitter dot will be accentuated by such elegant florals as purple Lizzy-Anthus, Rothschild Orchids, aubergine rust Calla Lilies, and Clearwater Roses, to name a few.
A magnificent ceiling treatment featuring beaded fiber optic chandeliers will serve to focus the room's attention onto a raised promenade stage and its grand spiral staircase.
