While planning my sister's graduation party I needed platters to display sweet treats. Though I found quite a few platters that fit my theme, they had a pretty hefty price tag. Not willing to part with $15 per platter that I'd probably just use for this theme party, I decided to take the DIY route.
I found three solid colored plates at a local discount store - the colors fit perfectly with my theme, but would also work well for any summer parties or get-togethers. I picked them up for a total of $8!
Then, I took scraps of scrabook paper left over from my other decorations and embellished each plate.

Really, the key to this craft's success was the Removable Glue Dots Roll® I used. The Glue Dots secured my paper cleanly, but they also came off the platters with a gentle tug and left no residue. Plus, I wasn't concerned with placing them near food since the Removable Glue Dots are non-toxic.
You can recreate this craft with just about any paper, plastic, metal, wood or glass plate and a few fun themed embellishments. It was a super fast fix, really inexpensive and made a great table display.
