I have the most fun hosting summer parties when I keep things easy and casual, which is the case for most hostesses. Keeping my yard party ready – aka neat – all season long makes it as easy as stringing a few twinkle lights to create a soft party ambiance and placing an eye-catching summer centerpiece to dress my celebration.
When it comes to food, the more I can prep ahead, the better. Luckily, marinated meats and veggies, potato salad, grilled shrimp and summer desserts are natural prep ahead recipes that feed a crowd.
As for party refreshments, box juices for the kids work wonders, beers will keep the guys happy, but those complicated cocktails we ladies adore so much, are anything but simple.
Rather than simply resort to a glass of wine, I always mix the best of both worlds (fun summer cocktail and ease of serving) into a summer punch for my girls and me. I’ve made sangria galore, but what always, without fail, will please all my ladies and impress them to boot, is a fun fruity punch.
This summer, it’s all about the peach flavored vodka I’ve discovered. I mixed up this punch once and have now made it a requirement for all my parties this season!
1 bottle Van Gogh’s Cool Peach Vodka
10 cups cranberry juice
2 cups mango juice
1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup mango juice
A day or so before your party make ice cubes out of your cranberry and mango juice - this will prevent your punch from getting watered down, but will still keep it cold!
On the day of the party, pour all of your punch ingredients into a bowl, stir well and add in your fruit ice cubes.
Let guests pour into champagne flutes and enjoy!
