Patriotic Summer Berry Dessert Recipe

These stuffed strawberries are the perfect way to sweeten up and add a burst of color to your next summer barbecue. Red, white, and blue has never been as decadent (and delicious) as it is in this recipe for cream cheese stuffed strawberries that is just brimming with mouthwatering patriotism. Seasonal berries come together in bite-sized bliss, making this the ultimate party dessert for sultry summer days.

Ingredients:

1 pint strawberries, tops removed and hulled

1 package cream cheese, softened

1 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar, plus more for dusting

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Blueberries, for garnish

Directions:

Rinse your strawberries. Then, cut the tops from them and hull. You may want to cut the very tips at the bottom of the strawberries off so that they stand on their own. Set berries aside.

In a large bowl soften cream cheese with a rubber spatula or the back of a wooden spoon; stir in vanilla until well combined. Begin adding sugar a little at a time, mixing as you go until filling is light and fluffy and all clumps are smoothed out. 

Next, load filling into a pastry bag fitted with a star tip or a plastic sandwich bag with one corner cut, and begin piping cream cheese filling into center of strawberries. Top each strawberry with a single blueberry and dust with sugar.

Serve immediately or chill overnight in refrigerator.
