Get together with the kids in the kitchen and create this pilgrim hat cookie craft to celebrate Thanksgiving.
The steps to make these Thanksgiving cookies are simple enough for a young toddler to assist in the process. We bet children (and adults) will love how a few clever moves turn ordinary ingredients into adorable Thanksgiving treats as much as we do!
Supplies
Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies
Marshmallows
Wooden skewers
Chocolate candy melts
Yellow decorator icing
Piping bag and tip
Directions
Have the kids help you place your fudge striped cookies on a cookie tray lined with a piece of wax paper, fudge stripe side down.
The adult should melt the chocolate candy melts in the microwave according to package directions (you can also use a double boiler if you prefer).
Once the chocolate has melted and cooled slightly, have the kids dip a marshmallow in chocolate until coated and the place on a cookie. We used wooden skewers to help us obtain that even coat without the mess getting too out of had.
When the chocolate has set, make a hat buckle using the yellow decorator icing. Create a small square at the front, then if you'd like, rim the entire edge where the marshmallow meets the cookie base.
