Calling all pizza lovers! My husband has one simple request for his birthday. Every single year, all the man wants is pizza with pepperoni and black olives. I got a little creative this year and crafted up a pizza cake in addition to pizza pie.
I used licorice gum drops for olives and fruit rollup for pepperoni. The sauce is white icing died with red food coloring and the dough is cake. It looked realistic enough that when my husband saw it he thought it was real pizza.
This would be a fun cake to make for a pizza party themed birthday. Ask your local pizzeria for an extra pizza box when you pick up the regular pizza to serve your cake in. Make a batch of pizza sticks and vegetarian bbq pizza to go along with your pizza cake.
1 Box White Cake (plus ingredients listed on box)
Red Food Coloring
White Baker’s Chocolate
Red Fruit Rollup
Step 1: Make a white cake according to the package in a large round cake pan. Allow to cool and cut a circle out of the center as shown in the photo.
Step 2: Mix white icing with red food coloring to get to your desired shade of red “sauce”. Add the red icing to the center of the cake as shown in the photo.
Step 3: Grate white baker’s chocolate over the red icing to look like “cheese”.
Step 4: Use a round fondant or cookie cutter to cut “pepperoni” out of red fruit rollups. Place your “pepperoni” on top of the “cheese”.
Step 5: Cut the tops off of Crows candy and core the center using a straw to look like “olives”. Place your “olives” in between the “pepperoni”.
