More Party Ideas

Plan a variety of activities for the reunion and build in some "down time" for those who just want to get together and catch up.

I've posted a detailed Family Reunion Timeline and Activity example on the event page.

Friday Night BBQ

  • Host an informal BBQ on the first night of the reunion. Ideally, this cook out should be at a family member's home.
  • A few family members can host or pay for this kick-off party or make this a "shared cost" event. You can also organize a potluck online on your Celebrations event page.
  • Check out our Barbecue and Outdoor Entertaining page for ideas.

Saturday Get Togethers and Activities

  • Organize different group activities for this day such as a golf outing, scrapbook gathering, or a trip to an amusement park.
  • These activities can be "opt-in" for those who want to participate. Post each activity, the personal cost, and a contact person like I did on the event page.

Saturday Night Dinner and Talent Show

  • This is the big night for everyone to sit down, dine, and come together as a family.
  • Host this party at a restaurant, clubhouse, or rental location and make it a "shared cost" event. Post the details on the event page.

Big Picnic and Family Awards Ceremony

  • Wind up the weekend with a big family picnic. Play tug-o-war, toss water balloons, and munch burgers and hot dogs all day.
  • This should also be a "shared cost" event with a few organizers for the food and fun.
  • Make sure that every one is acknowledged in a postive way at the Family Awards Ceremony. Some ideas are "Silliest Uncle" or "The Kid That Has Grown The Most in a Year." Award inexpensive trophies or a simple certificate.

Group Photo

  • Don't forget to commemorate the reunion with a group photo at the picnic.
  • Ask every one to purchase a personalized T-shirt, which you can design and sell online at Zazzle.com. Or, you can simply ask all to wear the same color scheme, such as red, white, and blue.
