Preparing for your first dinner party is the hardest part of the party. It takes a lot of work and forethought, but if done correctly it can save you time and will allow your party to run smoothly. Two Weeks Out: Invites and Menus
Tasks to complete two weeks before your dinner party:

1. Send invitations or call up your friends and invite them.
2. Hammer out your menu for the evening. Call your parents up for ideas on great recipes to serve, search cookbooks and do some online research on sites like AllRecipes.com.

If you pick the right recipes, you should be able to prepare almost everything before hand, and will only need to put the finishing touches right before your guests come.

Finding The Right Recipes
  • Take note of the preparation time and tasks involved.
  • Pass on the recipe if it requires slaving in the kitchen all day the day of the dinner.
  • Focus on recipes that allow you to prep beforehand and refrigerate, or can even be cooked and reheated without losing its flavor or texture.
