The Queen of Hearts can refer to so many things - that powerful red queen in a deck of cards, a flawless woman who can measure her collection of hearts by the dozen, and of course Lewis Carrol's ill-tempered queen (and no, we don't mean Tim Burton's big headed and loud mouthed mistress).
In this case, we've drawn our influence from the sassy red queen in a deck and incorporated colors and patterns commonly found in the deck and with the queen. Using a combination of black and white patterns with red embellishments, we've created an array of decorations and menu items that are the perfect balance of romance and beauty.
This theme was designed with Valentine's in mind, but it would also work perfectly for a bachelorette party, bridal shower, or even engagement party.
A few repeating patterns and colors make this theme just pop. The primary use of red and white is perfect for setting that romantic feel.
The dining table for two is covered with a simple white cloth to show off the black lace trim detail.
The centerpiece which consists of real flowers in vases along with some whimsical fabric & felt flowers as a "runner."
Each aspect of the theme is Incorporated into the individual place settings.
Make heart-shaped stem markers using the two coordinating patterns from the printable set. Simply attach the markers with double-sided tape to make a heart shape and curl the tail ends to finish it off.
Love notes sit atop each plate and are the perfect romantic gift. If you're not feeling creative enough to write each guest a personalized note, play off one of the popular poems such as "roses are red/ violets are blue/ you're my best friend/ I hope I'm yours too".
I added playing card inspired-accents to the table as well. This is an easy and thrifty way to play up the theme - decks of cards can be purchased at the dollar shop for you guessed it - a dollar!
I set up a small dessert table for two, with loads of sweet treats for your sweetie!
These chocolate dipped strawberries just scream romance - and really, it's almost impossible to say no to a bite of this chocolate dipped favorite.
Mini cupcakes? Add these bite-sized frosted goodies to the mix to satisfy any sweet tooth. And smaller sizes means more room to try out all the treats on the dessert table. It's a win-win!
We even added these adorable coordinating cookies to play up our card theme. So cute!
Sweet embellishments in the form of paper cones - so simple yet so adorable.
Themed favor boxes - fill with a romantic trinket for Valentine's Day or with a parting gift for guests at a shower or engagement party.
Don't forget the roses and chocolates for a truly romantic and memorable event.
