Hosting a ladies luncheon is one of our favorite ways to entertain and is perfect for a baby shower. With it being late morning or early afternoon, it's always best to keep the food light and easy to serve. But just because you're keeping your menu light and simple doesn't mean it can't be elegant and delicious.
We've got two simple recipes that pair perfectly together for a plate that's subtle and simple, yet totally satisfying. Our pressed ciabatta sandwich and strawberry salad will offer your guests a sample of sweet, salty, tangy and tart flavors all in one bite.
What's great about making these pressed sandwiches for a baby shower menu is that they are made ahead of time and you get multiple servings without the extra work.

Pressed Ciabatta Sandwich
You can make two or three different versions of this sandwich so your guests have options to choose from - grilled chicken would work nicely. Pair alongside our seasonal strawberry salad (recipe below) to complete the menu.
Ingredients
Ciabatta bread
Swiss cheese slices
Turkey
Honey baked ham
lettuce
tomato, sliced
mayonnaise & Dijon mustard
Directions
Cut your bread through the center, lengthwise. Spread top portion with mayonnaise, and bottom portion with Dijon mustard.
Begin layering ham, cheese, turkey, tomato, and lettuce. Place top layer of bread on and wrap the entire sandwich in plastic wrap, tightly.
Put the sandwich in your refrigerator and place a cutting board or baking sheet on top of it. Weight it down with books, bricks, or a gallon jug filled with water or milk. Leave over night so sandwich presses together and flavors meld together.
When ready to serve, unwrap the sandwich and cut into single serving sizes.

Strawberry Salad
Dress up simple salad greens for any occasion. This seasonal salad uses fresh fruit and a combination of sweet and salty components to make one delicious side dish.
Ingredients
Bag of mixed salad greens
Fresh strawberries, sliced
Gorgonzola or Danish blue cheese
Sugared pecans
Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing
Directions
Combine all salad ingredients together and drizzle lightly with dressing just before serving.
