For many people, part of the fun of celebrating the Fourth of July is serving red, white and blue themed foods. There's no reason to save those fun foods just for dinner and dessert though. Why not start the day on a red, white and blue note before heading out to see a parade or visit with friends and family?
Here are a few ideas to add those holiday colors to your breakfast on the 4th.
Berry and Cream Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast
Prepare your favorite recipe for either waffles, pancakes or French toast. Then top each helping with sliced strawberries, blueberries and a dollop of whipped cream.
Stuffed Berry Crepes
Fill crepes with an equal mixture of ricotta or marscapone cheese and honey. Top with blueberries and raspberries. Roll up and drizzle with honey and/or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Berry Bursting French Toast Sandwiches
Mix 8oz of cream cheese with 1 c. diced strawberries and 1 c. halved blueberries. Spread onto one slice of bread. Top with a second slice. Dip in egg mixture and cook as you would french toast.
Red, White & Blue Parfaits
In individual serving glasses, add a handful of bluberries to each. Top with some vanilla yogurt and then with a handful raspberries. Sprinkle with granola, if desired.
