Here are a few family Thanksgiving tabletop decorating ideas:
Tablecloth
Use fall colored butcher paper, have your child make handprints all around with washable brown paint. Trace around the fingers and hand with a marker to form a turkey shape. Add a beak, legs and an eye. Line the finished paper on your table. It's sure to be a hit!
Centerpiece
Use a carved out pumpkin as a bowl. Line the inside with another container and fill with fall flowers for a centerpiece. Also, use a clear glass "bubble bowl" container and fill with cranberries. Add water and fall flowers for a unique centerpiece. Sprinkle fall leaves around, add mini scarecrows and a few votives for a festive centerpiece!
You can also use this idea to serve homemade soup!
Place mats
Try the DIY approach for placemats this year. These Thanksgiving placemats are easy and will make for a great addition at the kids' table.
Another easy idea? Cut out pumpkin shapes with orange construction paper. Add the names of the children on top. Laminate for a unique place mat.
Place cards
Use mini pumpkins. Spray paint them in festive colors such as gold or silver. Cut a slit in the stem and insert place cards.
Also, you can give mini pumpkins to the children and have them decorate them in the likeness of the person being seated. It's a great way to keep the children busy and they can take the pumpkins home with them after the Thanksgiving celebration.
Happy Decorating!
