When Halloween rolls around, so too do the party invitations - and who wants to say no to any Halloween party? No matter the occasion, I always try to bring a little something sweet with me to parties or events I'm invited to - and if possible, homemade.
Halloween offers so many opportunities to get creative though, so there's no excuse not to get crafty with Halloween treats. Even the most amateur of bakers will discover how simple these cupcakes are to make for a crowd.
A chocolate cupcake coated in chocolate buttercream, topped with crushed chocolate cookie and garnished with a chocolate covered cookie tombstone, it's the perfect Halloween treat to whip up for a party.
While we make our cupcakes at home, you can use the decorating tips illustrated in the above video and the how-to below to decorate store-brought cupcakes, too.
Give these simple Halloween treats a try - they're well worth the effort. Just try not to eat all of them before you get to your party!
Chocolate cake mix
Chocolate buttercream icing
Crushed Chocolate cookie (we like Oreos best!)
Milano cookie, dipped in chocolate
Orange candy pen
Dip your Milano cookies halfway into melted chocolate and lie on wax paper to set. When the chocolate has hardened, using an orange or white candy pen, print RIP (or any other message) onto the cookie. Set to the side.
Ice the chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream in as even a coating as possible. Next, dip the tops into the crushed chocolate cookie crumbs.
Gently insert the chocolate dipped Milano cookie into the cupcake tops.
