Royal Wedding Hair Trends

This past April Prince William wed long-time love Kate Middleton. The royal wedding didn't disappoint - though the true love between these two captured the hearts of many, the bride's (and maid-of-honor Pippa's) dress, hair and make-up captured the eyes of brides-to-be everywhere.

Though there's been plenty of talk surrounding Kate's gorgeous wedding gown and Pippa's sleek white maid-of-honor's dress, there hasn't been nearly as much talk about the hair!

But, rest assured, Kate and Pippa's understated, yet elegant hairstyles are sure to be a hot trend for the upcoming summer wedding season.

Here, celebrity hairstylist Angelo David shares his predictions for bridal hair trends during the spring and summer: simple elegance with lots of hair.

Every woman dreams of having a princess wedding. They might not have the lavish carriage (or a prince), but they can definitely get the look. Kate’s “demi-chignon” will entice brides to get longer, fuller hair, creating a beautiful frame for the face.

Expect hair extensions to make a huge splash during wedding season, since bridal hair will be all about length. Brides can literally put their “hair down” to create almost a natural, yet polished, look for their big day.

Kate’s Middleton’s sister, Pippa, grabbed our attention with a simple yet stunning Alexander McQueen number and haute hair to match. Expect hair trends for the bridal party to lean toward the same tune.

Since spring/summer tend to call for outdoor settings (garden, beach, etc.), the bridal party is better off with a half updo, along with a few curls and hair accessories to complement the dress.

The rule here is to never upstage the bride, regardless of season. An updo is never appropriate, and neither is a tiara or any other shiny accoutrements. Given the temperature, a ponytail done beautifully can make a lot of impact, without grabbing too much attention (like Victoria Beckham, above!). One can play with loose curls, but make sure that nothing is overdone.
