Sampling a Caterer's Work

Jeanne Benedict

When it comes down to it, above all, the food has to taste good! Be sure to sample or at worst get the opionion of a friend who's tastbuds you respect when picking the caterer for your next party.

  • First of all, a lot of your apprehension or nerves about job performance should be allayed by the fact that you've researched the caterer and obtained their info with a recommendation along with checking references.
  • Many caterers will offer a tasting after you have hired them, so you may want to take them up on it or inquire about setting one up.
  • If you are hiring them for a monumental event, such as a wedding, I would definitely try to see them in action. Get their permission (really their client's permission) to visit "behind-the-scenes" of the event and take a sneak peek while sampling a little food.
