Add an English twist to the American favorite Pigs in a Blanket by serving Sausage Rolls at your pool party. Try this great recipe we served at our birthday party.

These yummy finger foods are simple to make and are always the first to disappear on a party buffet.

Ingredients

1 Packet of ready made puff pastry
1/2 Pound of ground sausage meat
1 Egg
2 Tablespoons of water

Directions

Unroll the puff pastry on to a sheet of wax paper and spoon the ground sausage meat onto the pastry to create a thumb size tube lengthwise across the pastry base.

Gently roll the pastry and the thumb size tube of sausage meat to fully cover the sausage in pastry.

Using a knife, trim off the tube and use your fingers to seal the meat into the pastry.

Before removing the sausage roll from the wax paper and placing it on a baking try, use a knife to cut 1 1/2 inch pieces from the tube to give yourself several pieces of sausage roll.

Repeat this process until the you have a full baking tray of sausage rolls.

In a small mixing bowl, add your egg and water and mix them together to create an egg wash.  With a basting brush, gently go over each sausage roll with your egg wash --this will give it a lovely golden brown colour when they are done cooking.

Cook on 375F for 30 minutes.

How to Serve

You can either serve them fresh out of the oven, or cool from the refrigerator.
