Pay homage to your graduate and his or her alma mater with this colorful cupcake that uses school colors to create a personalize treat for your graduate’s big day. Brightly colored and sprinkled, the embellishments add an unexpected and festive touch to remind everyone that it’s time to party!

Supplies

Your favorite cupcake mix or recipe – should make about 20 – 24 cupcakes
16 ounces of homemade or store bought white icing
Food coloring in the grad’s school colors
Funfetti embellishments or other colorful sprinkles
Plastic sandwich bag
Scissors

Directions

Bake a batch of your favorite cupcakes and allow them to cool completely before icing,

Tint 8-ounces of the white icing with a few drops of one color of food dye  and the remaining 8-ounces with your other color choice.

Using the brightest of the two colors, frost your cupcakes creating a smooth foundation to pipe on. (You can also alternate the colors you pipe and frost with for a fun and festive effect.)

Before piping, dip the edges of the cupcakes into brightly colored confetti sprinkles and turn until the entire edge of the cupcake is covered in sprinkles.

Next, fill a small plastic bag with the other color of frosting and cut the tip off, just small enough to make a writing tip. Pipe the name (if short) or the initials of your grad’s school or even the graduation year on each cupcake.

*Serve your cupcakes with extra sprinkles to toss at the man or lady of the hour!
