Can you ever get enough of the beach?
If you're one of the lucky people who get to visit the beach as often as you like, chances are you can always use more beach in your life.
And if you're not fortunate to live near one, you'd probably love to bring some beachy decor into your home.
Seashells offer a ton of creative ideas for summer crafts. Plus, they do double duty as summer decor. Here's a few ideas we came up with using seashells.
For you beachgoers, supplies are unlimited! And for non-beachgoers, your local craft store is sure to have some on hand.
One of the easiest ways to get crafty with sea shells is by making jewelery. Focus your shell search at the beach on smaller types. Then purchase assorted beads from the craft store and string them along with the shells on jewelry wire to make necklaces and bracelets.
Using the same technique for making jewlery, you can create a seashell mobile or windchime for your window or porch. For the mobile, any shells will do, but for the windchime craft you'll want shells and bells that make a pretty sound!
Capture some summer memories for your Christmas tree. Make a Santa Starfish by painting one of the starfish points red for a hat, using cotton for the hat's fur, and adding googly eyes for his face. Tie a ribbon on the starfish to use as a hanger.
You can also paint shells in holiday colors and dust them with glitter.
Store your seashell jewelery in a homemade jewerly box embellished with your extra shells. It's easy to make this summer craft - just brush white glue on a small wooden treasure box and decorate it with tiny craft shells!
Embellish your home with beachy decor - whether you keep these decorations up year round or just for the season, it's a worthwhile craft. Light switch plates are easy to embellish. Just glue an array of shells onto them.
For something that requires a bit more work, but really makes a statement, craft a clock with your sea shells!
