When you have extra-special wine corks you do not want to cut or glue to use in your decor (or if you just have more corks than time), try this super-simple tea light centerpiece that utilizes an ordinary wine glass to create an extraordinary decoration.

This easy centerpiece idea can be laid in the center of the table, but you can also make a few smaller versions and scatter them around the room. If your host to a number of smokers, use it to light up the deck with a touch of elegance.

Add this centerpiece to your wine and cheese parties for an extra elegant touch. And while this decoration is perfect for a classy event, it's simplicity makes it a great option even for casual dinner parties.

You can even switch up the colors of the tea lights to match your decor! Classic white tea lights are subtle and will play into any color scheme, but you can use various colored lights to add an accent to the room. If you're guest list includes a number of kiddies or guests who proudly call themselves a "lush", you may want to opt for LED lights instead of traditional tea lights. That way, you'll avoid any drunken accidents where the fire department is called and you're left still wondering what went wrong.

The bigger the glass, the better -- you can even use a brandy snifter or a margarita glass if you like! And as always, when dealing with fire , be extra safe! Don't allow children or small hands near an open flame and always make sure your centerpiece is on an even surface, away from the edge.

Supplies

Large wine glass
Wine corks
LED or candle Tea light

Instructions

Fill a large wine glass 2/3 full with wine corks.

Arrange the corks so that the center is as level as possible.

Place an LED tea light in the center of the glass on top of the corks. If you want to use the actual tea light candle for this decoration don’t leave your wine cork centerpiece unattended while it’s lit. You may even want to consider placing a smaller tea light candle in another glass votive holder to prevent the flame from ever coming near the corks.

Tip

Cluster assorted glasses together to create a large centerpiece.
