What started out as a just blog, smitten kitchen has always been a go-to resource for tantalizing twists on your favorite recipes and loads of confectionery creations. The cook behind it all is Deb Perelman, an obsessive home cook who knows a thing or two in the kitchen. Obviously that was an understatement, Deb's knowledge and creativity in the kitchen is something we all admire at Celebrations.
Now Deb has been working on her first cookbook over the last few years and we could not be happier with the outcome. The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook is chock full of recipes perfect for entertaining at your next party, such as tomato scallion shortcakes with whipped goat cheese or a chocolate silk pie.
The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook is not just a book full of recipes. Deb tells a unique story before each dish making it a fun and interesting read, accompanied by mouthwatering photos that literally make you want to run to the pantry to start cooking. At least that was my reaction.
One recipe that really stood out to me was her Pancetta White Bean and Swiss Chard Pot Pies. I'm a big fan of hosting dinner parties where each of my guests are served mini individual portions so these pot pies really spoke to me. I'm also a huge fan of pancetta and any kind of flaky crust.

Muffins are also a weakness of mine; any carb really is. Deb's recipe for Plum Poppy Seed Muffins are made with sour cream to really give it that moist center along with a blend of sugar, spices and fresh plums.
