Snowmen Christmas Cupcakes

The song goes… "Frosty the Snowman, was a very happy…. cupcake!" Well, not really, but snowmen cupcakes are a huge holiday hit!

With just a little creativity and a few ingredients, you can construct an entire snowmen family out of cupcakes.

Most snowmen cupcakes you see are just frosted faces, but you can mix it up by creating 3-D snowmen that are easier to make and just as fun to eat. Use our Christmas cupcake recipes to make a tasty and festive Christmas dessert spread!

Supplies

Regular sized cupcake pan and a mini cupcake pan
Cupcake recipe
White frosting
Toothpicks
Chocolate chips, sprinkles, licorice, pretzels and other items for decorating
Christmas decorations to get everyone in the holiday mood (optional)

Directions

Bake your cupcakes using one regular sized cupcake tin and one mini sized cupcake tin. You will use the mini cupcake for the head, and the regular sized cupcake for the body. I suggest using white cake mix because it resembles snow and is easier to blend with the white frosting. It is really important to let the cupcakes cool completely so that you don't end up with a crumbly mess – FYI, a crumbly mess does not a snowman make.

To assemble your snowman, remove the paper wrappers on the cupcakes and place the cupcake on its side with the top facing forward. Slice off the bottom to give the cupcake a flat surface to stand on and connect a mini cupcake on top with a toothpick. Now, you are ready to frost.

Cover your cupcake snowman with white frosting to give him that “frosty” look and hold him together.

Now it's time for the fun part – decorating! You can use chocolate chips for the eyes, pretzel sticks for the arms and a carrot for the nose or use your imagination. I‘ve created a red licorice scarf and even a fashion-forward fur vest using cupcake remnants. Give your snowmen wild hair colors using sprinkles, or even create a hat out of a chocolate bar. The possibilities are truly endless.

You can also frost an ice cream cone to resemble a tree in the background and decorate it too. This is a great activity to do with kids who can get really creative with decorations -- and who love to eat the finished Christmas food.
