Easy to make, these beans pack a mouthful of flavor and are a side dish that's sure to be a hit with all your dinner party guests.
They take very little work, which is also helpful for a hostess trying to impress her guests AND spend time with them, too.
Ingredients
3 pounds washed and cut string beans
9 strips of bacon chopped into pieces
3 teaspoons of olive oil
1 1/2 cups thinly sliced onion (I use yellow for more flavor)
4 cloves of sliced garlic
1 1/4 cups beef stock (you can also use chicken broth or water)
1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
Once the oil is hot, add the bacon and until cooked to your liking.
Then, add the onions and saute those until they are translucent.
Add the string beans and toss well with the bacon and onions. Saute for approximately 5 minutes.
Then add the beef stock (water or chicken broth) and raise the flame to a medium high heat.
When the stock begins to boil, cover the pan and reduce the heat to medium low.
After about 8 minutes, remove the lid, toss the beans and add the remaining black pepper. Allow the beans to cook until tender.
