Summer is the perfect time for getting together with friends either to celebrate a special occasion or just to revel in some good company. And it's always fun to make a little event out of an evening by sending out just the right invitation to set the tone. These Stylish Silverware Dinner Party invitations from Pear Tree Greetings is perfect for helping to turn a casual evening into a memorable event. It's neutral palette and bold yet sophisticated graphic is perfectly on the edge of elegant yet casual and provides a fabulous jumping off point for your decor.

Recently, I pulled together a small summer dinner party. Just like the Pear Tree Greetings invitation, I wanted it to capture the ease and the elegance that makes summer dining so special. To do this, I used a mix of high end and low end items as well as lots of textures.

There is no rule that says that you can't mix your beautiful silver with burlap or a crystal chandelier with mason jars and a summer dinner party is just place to do this.

I covered the table with a burlap tablecloth to create a neutral background. To offset the texture of the burlap, I used lovely silky black dinner napkins which perfectly popped my silver flatware - just like the invitation!

To add some flare to neutral palette of black and beige, I layered in aqua accessories: small plates, glass jars frothing with sprays of garden roses, antique mason jars alight with candles and even a signature drink for the evening.

Just because this is a dinner party for adults doesn't mean you can't have fun - we played the Secret Message party game and had a lot of laughs.

For our dinner party I put a bit more effort into my appetizer and dessert rather than the entrees. Guests were greeted when they arrived at their seats with my homemade creme fraiche topped with caviar. After dinner, I served another homemade treat - lavender and honey ice cream!

Simple and stylish summer dinner parties are attainable! It starts with introducing a more formal, yet easy theme using your invitation then ends with a bit of repurposing of what you have and a few personalized touches to your table!
