Jeanne Benedict
Celebrations Expert

Your child has probably traced his or her little hand on a piece of paper in school and then colored it in to make a turkey picture. You can use the same idea to make fun Thanksgiving Turkey Cookies for kids.

Supplies

Sugar cookie dough
Popsicle stick
Cookie sheet and non-stick cooking spray
White frosting
Candy Corns
M&Ms
Assorted candies to decorate the turkey cookie

Directions

Roll out your favorite prepared sugar cookie dough on a floured surface.

Have your child put their hand on the dough.

Have them trace around their hand with a Popsicle stick. The parent can use a knife to cut the shape out a bit more if need be.

Place the dough hand(s) on a cookie sheet and bake.

When the cookies are cool, use frosting and candy to decorate the cookies so they look like turkeys.

Decorate the cookie thumb as the turkey's head. Use red-hot candies to make his wattle.

Make the cookie fingers his feathers and use candy corns and M&Ms to brighten them up. Be creative!
