Take a Page from Our Book: Easy Graduation Party Favors

You know all that literature you were forced to buy and read over the years? Well, rather than just tossing your books (or your kid's books) in the recycle bin as soon as you graduate, try getting crafty with some pages.

We've made paper flower decor out of old book pages before, and we thought, why not get even more crafty to turn them into a really appropriate graduation party favor? What's so great about this craft idea is that it repurposes what you're sure to already have on hand and will cost you mere pennies for the supplies you need.

Just be sure to save up all your paper towel and toilet paper rolls to collect as much tubing as you'll need to ensure each graduation party guest gets a favor.

As soon as you decide to make these clever favors, start saving those toilet paper and paper towel rolls! If you're in a time crunch, take up a collection from friends or neighbors.

Supplies

toilet paper rolls, or paper towel rolls cut in thirds, 1 per guest
pages from an old book
scotch tape
curling ribbon
scissors

Directions

Step 1: Fill the cardboard rolls with desired treats - wrapped chocolates, nuts, or small toys. You can prefent the candies from falling out of one bottom by temporarily attaching a piece of paper with a rubber band to one end.

Step 2: When the tube is full of candy, wrap the tube with pages from an old book.  While text book pages are larger, there's also a greater chance they'll be glossy finished and colorful. If that's the theme for your party, great, but we really love the matte finish and black copy found in a literature book. Try to get pages from iconic novels or plays - guests will get a nice treat figuring out the classic their favor is wrapped in.

Step 3: Tie each end of the paper with curling ribbon. Curl the ribbon with the edge of your scissors. 

Split the curling ribbon in half by snipping a quarter inch in from the end and then splitting the ribbon down the middle. This will give you thinner ribbons, and a little more of a festive look.
