When it comes to cocktail recipes, glasses are out. The latest trend? Serve your sip on a stick.
Tequila-infused fruit cocktails on a stick are literally just that - you take some fun fruit cut outs, soak them in tequila and pop 'em on a stick to eat. That's it.
Nothing could be easier to make, and these alcoholic bites make for a great adult-indulgence at summer parties. Guests will go crazy over these guys, but hostesses will love them as well - no standing behind the bar taking orders at your party!
You'll want to use higher quality tequila for this cocktail recipe (as we learned) since the tequila is a bit intense. A better quality one will enhance your fruit flavors, a poorer one will overpower it and ruin the treat.
If you're hesitant to use straight tequila for this recipe, consider adding other flavors to the mix. Lime juice and zest are a natural compliment to both the tequila and fruit. Lemons will work just as well, or even oranges. Just think margarita-style - chances are if you'd drink it in there, you'd eat it as naturally in these bites.
Assorted fruit (we used cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple and honeydew)
1-inch cookie cutters, assorted designs
Skewers, cut in half (like lollipop size)
Lime, orange or lemon juice/zest, optional
Container to marinate
Slice your fruit so you can easily cut out your shapes. You want the pieces at least an 1/2-inch thick.
Next, using your cookie cutters (and over a cutting board) cut out your fruit shapes. This part is messy! You can reserve the juices that sneak out during the process to add to the tequila marinade later.
Pop your fruit pieces into a container. Pour over your tequila and any additional ingredients you're using.
Cover tightly, shake and place in the fridge for 2 hours.
When ready to serve, skewer the infused fruit and arrange on platters for guests to enjoy.
