A beautifully presented dinner table at a tie dye theme dinner party will get your guests excited for what delicious treats will be presented. Create a simple and theme-appropriate tabletop by using "tie dye" fabric to cover the table that'll catch guests eyes.
Here we bought fabric in the "batik" section of the store. It has the same water color effect that tie dye has and makes a lovely table cloth.
We brought in different colors by using plastic plates and different colors of ribbon to tie off our napkins. The tie dye theme is great because you can finally find a use for all those extra odd-colored paper plates and accessories you've acquired over the years! The key word here is color - and you can use a lot or a little. Play up the theme with either a lot of color or a little. If you really want it to be vibrant, use color in every plate, embellishment, and even utensil you use. We suggest having one or two colors use more often than the others to create unity within the table. Or, you can downplay the color by using loads of neutrals and basics in the big decor pieces, and using "pops" of tie dye or color to tie the theme together. For example, using white napkins and vibrant napkin rings can be just as pretty as using multi-colored napkins.
We kept our centerpiece simple with a single flower stem inserted into a colorful vase, a decorative toy "jack", and a tie dye sign placed in a frame.
The printable tie dye sign and name cards are seen elsewhere in the party and help to unify the look.
One of the most whimsical elements to the table are the drink holders. We used kitchen condiment containers bought from the craft store, to hold orange soda.
These mimic the look of the bottles holding the dye for the shirts.
To insert a straw we cut down the squirt top enough so that a straw would fit into the hole. This idea was a favorite amongst the kids!
