Tented weddings and events are magical and certainly unique; they are like working with a blank canvas - you can make it anything you want from an elegant ballroom to a shabby chic haven. And sometimes, the setting like the beach or mountains is enough!
Tent Styles
There are so many options when it comes to choosing which test is best for your party. Popular choices are the A-frame, Century, Marquees, Rope & Pole and Part Canopy. Your local tenting professional will guide you based off of your needs.
Flooring
I have done many tented events, and it pains me when the client doesn't want to spend extra money on flooring. Similar to building a house, a sub-floor to a tent is imperative. It protects you from Mother Nature and gives you a steady surface to build on and then create a more elegant space. There is nothing worse than getting the unexpected rain shower and your guests' Jimmy Choo's and Louboutin's are sinking into the mud!
The most important thing, make your dance floor fabulous!
Location
You can have your event near the mountains, beach, gardens or in your own backyard. Take in the view! I like using clear vinyl "walls" which allow you to enjoy the outdoors without the pests, wind and rain!
Cost
Tented events are not always the cheapest option. Doing a tented wedding is much more costly than you would think as everything is brought in from scratch, including the tent, tables and even the salt and pepper!
Don't forget: The cook tent and sanitation tent are needed for garbage and dirty dishes. A generator is a must!
Bathroom options
There are plenty of choices for luxury bathroom trailers that is not your typical construction porta-john.
Weather
Whether you opt for an open tent or closed, it all depends on the weather. Remember it might be 75 degrees outside but it can be anywhere from 85-90 degrees inside the tent. Again, a tent professional knows how to balance the indoors and out.
Lighting
Lighting is crucial as it adds to the overall feeling of your event. You can bring in chandeliers, funky lighting elements, Asian lanterns...the sky's the limit!
