Tips to Incorporate Paper Decor Into Your Party for Less

As co-owner of a paper design boutique, it’s no surprise that I love to incorporate paper elements into any occasion. Paper can brighten up a table, sell an event, carry a theme throughout a party and inform guests of vital information, all the while tying an entire evening together cohesively - and inexpensively.

From the invitation to the food tent cards to the menu to the drink flags, paper can tell your event’s story. With my fundraiser I aimed to do a few things with the paper products:

Inform guests that they should vote for Team Jacqueline + Laylaa.

Incorporate the Derby theme into the party by reminding guests to “place their bets” or donate to the cause.

Tie the Derby theme into the party by coining certain foods/drinks after famous Kentucky Derby winners (Big Brown, Mine That Bird, Calvin Borell, etc.)

Thank vendors who generously donated their time, products and services to make the event happen.

To begin with, I started out with a yellow and beige floral design that matched the color scheme perfectly with the yellow and the Derby theme well with the flowers. I used this same image on all of the paper products used at the party to tie them all together.

What's great about paper decor for a party is how easy it is to tie in your theme and customize the celebration all on a budget. You can create exactly what you want to dress up your tables and party space for a whole lot less than what it might cost you at a party store.
