When planning a 50s or 60s theme party - whether it's a 60th birthday or Mad Men theme party - the Tom Collins is the ideal cocktail!

Made from gin, lemon juice, sugar and club soda, it may have made it's debuting in the 1870s, but it came back in a big way during the 50s and 60s.

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces of gin
Dash of bitters
Dash of Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
Dash of Simply Syrup
Some Club Soda

Directions

Half-fill your shaker with ice cubes, then combine the gin, lemon juice, bitters and simply syrup. Shake well.

Strain into a tall glass (also known as a Collins glass!) almost filled with ice cubes.

Top with club soda and garnish with a lemon, and cherry if you'd like to add a pop of color. Stir and garnish with the cherry and the orange slice.

NOTE: Vodka can be substituted for Gin if preferred.
