Our top picks for Halloween Horror movies will have you at the edge of your seat. To say these movies are just scary would an understatement. So grab some popcorn, grab your friends, and prepare yourself for a night full of demons, ghosts, and psycho serial killers!

When A Stranger Calls - “Have you checked the children…” Totally creepy, and definitely not a Halloween movie to watch when you’re alone, this 1979 thriller brings all of our babysitting nightmares to life. There’s a reason why the opening scenes are considered the scariest movie moments of all time! Be prepared to have a hard time sleeping after this one… but don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Silence of the Lambs- Goosebumps are there from the very beginning, as we follow Clarice Starling on her quest to identity a serial killer, by obtaining information from a psychotic cannibal. Ah, the classic story of boy kills girl, deranged killer is called upon to save the day. With each passing minute of the film, you can’t help but be enthralled by Hannibal Lector’s bizarre brilliance.

The Omen - What would you do if you realized your son was the antichrist? As we watch Damien’s father dig deeper and deeper to find the origins of his little boy, we are left holding on to the edge of our seats as all signs of hope die off and evil is left victorious. Evil priests and hospital fires are just the beginning of the end in this 1976 classic horror film – a perfect Halloween movie choice!.

Children of the Corn – Sure, kids are always wondering what life would be like without adults, but very few children would organize an evil cult and kill all of the adults off to give it a go. A Halloween movie like this really could only take place in the middle-of-nowhere. Who would have known, a demonic cult is just one cornfield away…

The Exorcist – There’s a reason why this cult classic has so many remakes and sequels. Suspense and gore are just the beginning in this 1973 scare-your-pants-off Halloween horror film. The scariest part? It’s based on a true story. Demonic possession in my hometown? Count me out.

Rosemary’s Baby – Creepy neighbors? Check. Demonic pregnancy? Check. Weird witch coven? Check. Commonly called “the scariest movie of all time”, Rosemary’s Baby is not for the quick-to-scare viewers. If you can handle a super scary Halloween movie though, you won’t be able to peel your eyes away as Rosemary tries to save her offspring from the hands of evil, while fighting unknown forces to keep herself alive.

Poltergeist - After moving into a new home in the suburbs, the Freeling family quickly learns that there’s an entrance to another dimension in their child’s closet – a fact I’m sure must have slipped the realtor’s mind. Kidnappings and talking T.V sets are just the beginning in this supernatural Halloween horror movie.

Amityville Horror - You would think they would know not to move into a house built on haunted ground by now.  Another gruesome story based on true events, one can’t help but wonder what paranormal secrecies lay around the corner in this super spooky Halloween movie!

Nightmare on Elm Street - in this classic Halloween horror film, nightmares become a reality. You’ll think twice about dozing off when Freddy Krueger is an uninvited guest in your dreams. “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…”

The Shining – All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy … This is especially true when Jack is stranded in a haunted hotel, empty except for his wife, son, and a gruesome past. This horror movie will undoubtedly haunt your thoughts for months, but is so worth sitting down and watching this Halloween!
