Make use of the grill (not just in the warm weather, either!) for some delicious and utterly simple going-away apps. Slide a few cubes of chicken, beef, and vegetables onto skewers, drizzle with a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and grill. These can be served in no time flat.

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Pizza Dough (available at your local grocery store)
  • Fresh Mozarella Cheese
  • Some Fresh Tomatoes
  • Fresh Basil -- sliced into strips
  • Olive Oil and Salt and Pepper

Directions

  • Dice up fresh tomatoes and put them in a bowl with the basil, a drizzle of olive oil and salt and pepper.
  • Next, roll out the dough on a floured countertop and brush both sides with a little olive oil so it doesnt stick.
  • With the grill turned up to high heat, carefully transfer the dough onto the grill and close the top.
  • Wait until the bottom of the dough becomes crisp and has grill marks and then flip it over.
  • Place slices of fresh mozzarella on the side of the dough with the grill marks and close the grill again so that the cheese melts.
  • Top with the tomato and basil mixture and wait until the underside gets crispy before taking the flatbread off the grill and cutting it up.
  • Garnish with toothpicks (available at most dollar or specialty stores) that say Au Revoir and Bon Voyage.
