In addition to paper Valentine's, getting candy is a big part of the holiday for kids. This card idea takes care of both.

A paper gift sack serves as the Valentine and turns into a place to keep all the sweet treats. It's perfect for a sibling or a friend who may not be in school.

Supplies

paper gift bag, color or brown
scissors
plastic sandwich bag or contact paper
red, white and pink tissue paper
glue
heart stickers or other Valentine's stickers

Directions

Step 1: Draw a heart in the center of the paper bag. You can use print out a template to trace or freehand the heart. We used a black marker to make the shape easier to see, but a pencil works well, too.

Step 2: Open the sack and cut out the heart shape starting from the center.

Step 3: Lay one layer of a plastic sandwich bag over the opening and trim to the size of the paper sack. Place the plastic inside the sack and under the heart opening. Tape to secure.

Step 5: Glue pieces of cut up tissue paper to the plastic creating a stained glass effect. You can use any shape and any number of pieces you like.

Step 6: Place a handwritten note or card inside the bag, and fold it so the top inch or so folds over the bottom creating an envelope.

Step 7: Use heart-shaped stickers to seal the bag closed.
