Straw flags are a cinch to make and the perfect little embellishment for cheery striped drinking straws.
For our party in the park with family we sent out a watermelon invitation we found at Pear Tree Greetings. Laid-back, full of bright colors and in the shape of one of our favorite summer desserts, the invitation became a big inspiration for our celebration's theme.
These straw flags drew directly from the watermelon slice graphic and were beyond easy to make. Try it for your summer party!
Supplies
white, red, green scrapbook paper (you can use leftover scraps of paper for these little dandies)
adhesive
circular paper punches--1 1/2 and 1 1/4 inch
black permanent marker
scissors
Directions

Step 1: Punch circles from the green paper with the 1 1/2 inch punch, and red circles with the 1 1/4 inch punch.
Step 2: Then, glue the red circle on top of the green circle. Cut this layered circle in half and add some black watermelon seeds with a permanent marker.
Step 3: To create the flag, cut a piece of white paper into a 3/4 inch by 3 inch strip. Adhere the watermelon cut-out towards one of the ends of the flag.
Step 4: Apply adhesive to the back side of the flag, fit around the straw, and press together to adhere.
