This idea was sponsored by Pear Tree Greetings.
This colorful and fun summer party invitation from Pear Tree Greetings provided the perfect theme and color suggestions for creating a very special picnic for a big family gathering. Watermelon was not only on the menu, but was also the cheery graphic used to decorate throughout the outdoor space reserved for the celebration.
Do-it-yourself themed signs were created and posted along the way to direct family members to the reserved picnic area. These signs were a great summer craft for the kids to help out with. It got them pretty pumped to see the family!
Picnic baskets became the centerpieces for the tables after the food and supplies came out and fresh bouquets of white mums went in. Check out the entire tablescape for our watermelon summer party.
Buckets of sliced watermelon were out on the tables throughout our party --and within easy reach of all of the kid-o's.
Our picnic dessert of choice? Why, s'mores, of course! The whole family lined up to make s'mores. Choosing a toasted coconut, strawberry, or regular marshmallow gave everyone a chance to make a warm, gooey s'more to their liking.
The colorful and playful graphics on the Pear Tree invitation gave me the liberty to mix and match polka-dots, stripes and prints in red and bright lime green colors. Check out the whole watermelon inspired look of our party!
The ice chest was stocked full of ice cold beverages, but the special of the day was my sparkling watermelon lemonade. It got even more dressed up for the party with a skewer of frozen watermelon balls and a striped straw.
A DIY decorated bucket (made to look like a watermelon) held extra napkins, utensils, and plates. This bucket looked fantastic on the table and was a cinch to make.
What goes with summertime better than watermelon? How about some watermelon taffy for a fun treat and the perfect party favor!
