When Irish Eyes Are Smiling Cocktail

Celebrations Expert

When Irish eyes are smiling...it's probably because they have an Irish Eyes cocktail in their hand!

Ever hear of the drink Irish Eyes? And no it's not the song! It's a delicious whiskey cocktail drink that all your guests will be sure to love.  Irish Eyes is a creamy mint drink that's a perfect delight for your St. Patrick's Day celebration. The whole idea behind the name is that you're suppose to give the drink to your Irish sweetheart, look into his/her eyes and say "Tá tú go h-álainn" which means "You're Beautiful."

Your guests' eyes will surely smile when you serve them a pretty green cocktail in one of these beautiful Waterford goblets.

If you are still confused of what this drink tastes like, it is similar to the vodka based White Russian drink. Creme de menthe adds just a hint of mint and gives the finished drink its light green color. Perfect for any St. Patrick's Day celebration!

Ingredients

1 ounce Irish Whiskey
1/4 ounce Creme de menthe
2 ounces Cream

Directions

These directions are as simple as 1, 2...and no 3!

Start by filling your shaker with ice. Then add 1 ounce of Irish whiskey, 1/4 oz Creme de Menthe for a mint taste and 2 ounces of cream for that smooth texture. Shake well.

Strain and pour the mixture into an old fashion glass like the Waterford goblets pictured here. For a finishing touch, add a piece of mint or maraschino cherry to accent your drink. Now your Irish Eye drink is ready to serve!

A few of these and you'll all be singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and no one will care what key it's in! Have a great St. Patrick's Day party and drink responsibly.
