Witch Hat Cupcakes

More Party Ideas

Inspired by Martha Stewart's famous witchy design, my candy-coated witch face cupcakes are easy enough for kids to decorate. And this makes for a great activity at your Which Witch is Which Party.

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Vanilla Cake Mix
  • 1 Package Red Shoe String Licorice
  • 1 Package Black Shoe String Licorice
  • 1 Boxes of 12 Sugar Cones (pointed at the tip)
  • 1 Half Bag of White Chocolate Chips (M&M's work too)
  • 1 Container Chocolate Icing
  • 1 Package Candy Corn
  • 1 Container Vanilla Icing
  • 3 Drops Green Food Coloring

Directions

  • Bake 2 dozen cupcakes according to directions on box. Let cool for an hour before decorating. In a medium bowl, empty contents of vanilla icing and add 3 drops of green food coloring (this will be the witch's skin).
  • Cover each sugar cone with chocolate icing (these will be the witch's hats).
  • Use the rest of the chocolate icing as adhesive to stick the black shoe string licorice to the inside of the sugar cone, leaving about 2-3 inches of licorice coming out the bottom of the cone (this is the witch's hair).
  • Ice each cupcake with green icing. Instead of facing up, turn each cupcake on its side so that the top of the cupcake is facing east to west instead of north to south.
  • Decorate the witch's face: the white chocolate chips (or M&M's) are the eyes, the red shoe string licorice is the mouth, the candy corn is the nose.
  • Finally, top each cupcake with the sugar cone so that the black shoe string licorice is framing the witch's face.
