Yee-haw! Western Theme Party Decorations

Decorations for a cowboy or Western theme party are easier to find than you might think. You can incorporate small bales of hay, rope, and cowboy gear like hats, sheriff's badges, horse shoes, etc. throughout your party space.

For the cowboy birthday party I styled, I created a seated table and snack table using these concepts, and a color scheme taken directly from my cowboy birthday party invitation.

Using paper items in your party decor is a great way to "brand" your party and tie everything together. With the coordinating pieces from Pear Tree Greetings, I was able to use them in many ways. Here we used one of the Thank You note cards as an insert into our flower centerpiece which is made using hydrangeas and up-cycled cans wrapped in fabric and rope.

Place settings are fit for little buckaroos as we served lunch out of 8-inch cake pans that mimic the tin pans used in the wild west. These were found at a local dollar store and wound up costing just as much as printed partyware might, but added so much more depth and authenticity to our table.

Bandanas can be used as napkins. Dress up root beer bottles and add a little whimsy at the same time. We found mini cowboy hats in the "doll making" section of the craft store. They fit perfectly on top of the bottles, and adding a mini "bandana" around the bottle neck has them resembling cowboys. The kids loved this!

Our snack table is full of treats that are displayed around small bales of hay. The hay adds height and a place to insert snack cones and pie pops. We use our rope frame as part of the decor, as well as galvanized buckets to hold favor bags and chocolate "rocks".

Cupcakes are a must at children's parties so we topped these with edible gold flakes and called them "Gold Nugget Cupcakes" for the day.

When you have invitations as cute as these that are customized with your child's photo, use it in your decor to personalize the party. We placed the invitation in our diy rope frame and placed it on a welcome table, dessert table, and as part of a centerpiece cluster.

Keeping classic Western style and elements like rope or hay in mind makes it simpler to stage a cowboy theme party!
