When I was younger, my grandfather always had orange slices in his kitchen. These cupcakes are my tribute to him. Orange slices are cooked and pureed before going into the cupcake batter, and the buttercream pairs well with a delicate orange flavor. Some white sanding sugar and an orange slice on top make these the ultimate orange treat.
I'm a part-time librarian and a full-time cupcake eater. Sometimes it's hard to read a book while eating straight up sugar but I'll never stop trying.
