Spice up your holiday party with holiday party games. Having a few fun games and activities on hand will ensure that there's never a dull moment. Holiday party games are also a great way to encourage your party guests to mingle.

Two Truths and a Lie - Holiday Gifting Style


Game #3: Worst Holiday Presents - Two Truths and a Lie

Supplies:

- One piece of paper for each person playing the game
- Tape
- Pencils and pens

Instructions:

1. In this holiday version of the game two truths and a lie', have each person write down two of the worst holiday presents they have ever received along with one made up worst holiday present.' Make sure each person writes their name at the top of the paper.

2. When everyone is done, hang each person's piece of paper on the wall so everyone can read them over and have a good laugh. Everyone will spend the rest of the holiday office party guessing which horrible holiday presents were real and which are invented.

Name That Holiday Tune

Game #2: Name That Holiday Tune

Supplies:

- Ipod with speaker or CD player
- Holiday songs playlist or Holiday song CD
- Two bells

Instructions:

1. Divide the office up into two teams and give each team a bell.

2. Begin playing a holiday song and instruct the first person who can name the tune to ring their bell.

3. If they answer correctly, their team gets a point. If they guess incorrectly, the other team has a chance to give their answer for a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Pin the Red Nose on Rudolph

Game #1: Pin the Red Nose on Rudolph

Supplies:

- Large picture of Rudolph (download here)
- Red circle cutouts for his nose, one per person
- Double stick tape
- Blindfold
- Black Sharpie

Instructions:

1. Print out a poster-sized picture of Rudolph and tape it to a wall in the office

2. Hand out one red circle per contestant, and affix double-stick tape to one side of each circle. Have each contestant write their name in Sharpie on the red circle so you can determine whose circle is closest to Rudolph's real nose at the end of the game.

3. Put a blindfold on each contestant, spin them around once, and let them try to stick their red circle nose closest to Rudolph's nose on the poster. Repeat until everyone's red circles are up on the board and you have a winner.

Holiday Story Trivia

This game is also played like Jeopardy, but the questions should refer to traditional holiday stories.

For example, if the holiday being celebrated is Christmas, all questions should refer to the traditional story of Old Saint Nick, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the story of the Three Kings, Frosty the Snowman, etc.

The same idea should be applied to Hannukah, Kwanzaa, the Chinese New Year, etc.

Office Scavenger Hunt

Throw in a little team building with the party games.
  1. Create a list of common office items for the hunt and list them on paper; make copies.
  2. Ask employees to form teams.
  3. Give each team an office item list and set a time limit to find the items.
  4. The team who finds all items first or has the most items when time is up wins.

Guess the Desk Item

How much desk hopping goes on in your office? Try this game to see who gets around the most.
  1. Put 10 personal desk items each from a different employee on a table.
  2. Give players sheets of paper numbered 1 " 10.
  3. Players write down who owns each desk item.
  4. The person who has the most correct answers wins.

Coffee Cup Pong

Youre never at a loss for coffee mugs in the office. Multi-task those mugs with this game.
  1. Place an empty coffee cup on a table or desk that has been cleared off.
  2. Try and bounce a ping-pong ball into the cup.

Family Holiday Trivia

This game is played just like Jeopardy.

However, all the game clues are themed around people, events and dates that occurred at past family holiday gatherings.

Finish the Lyric

  • In this game, family members are split up into two teams, Team A and Team B.
  • One member of Team A will pick a holiday song from a stack and read off the first refrain of lyrics.
  • One word from the lyrics should be blanked out (not spoken). It is then up to the chosen team member from Team B to finish the lyric by saying the word that was left out.

Chrismukkah Games and Activities

Hanukkah activities are ideal for a party. Combine Jewish holiday games with a few Christmas carols and you've got the makings of an entertaining Chrismukkah get together.
  • Request that guests who celebrate Hanukkah bring dreidels for all to play this classic spinning top game.
  • Consider searching for both Hanukkah gelt and candy canes.
  • Have the kids decorate a matzoh bread house in the style of a gingerbread house as suggested on Chrismukkah.com.
  • Go out caroling in the neighborhood and sing a combination of both Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs.
  • And of course, swap presents!

Charlie Brown Christmas Party Ornament Exchange

Get in the spirit of giving by asking party guests to participate in an ornament exchange. Ask people to bring a homemade ornament for Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. Before the party, be sure to craft four or five of your own homemade Christmas ornaments in case people forget to bring theirs.

When guests arrive, invite them to place their homemade ornament on the tree and to take one home with them as a party favor. It's a merry gesture of giving that is sure to put everyone in the right mood for the season.

Girl's Night Holiday Party Activity: Gift Wrapping

For a girls night holiday party that is as productive as it is fun, encourage guests to bring their gifts that need wrapping. Purchase a few extra rolls of holiday wrapping paper and ribbon in case anyone runs out, and have a few pairs of scissors and rolls of tape on hand as well.

Then, clear out a large space in front of the television where everyone can settle down to the business of wrapping, and put on favorite holiday movies in the background.

Wrap Superstars

Game #4: Wrap Superstars

Supplies:

- Two rolls of wrapping paper
- Two spools of holiday ribbon
- Two rolls of tape
- Two identical sets of three different sized boxes.
- Two sets of scissors

Instructions:

1. Pit two teams against each other in a race against the clock to see which team can wrap presents faster. Begin by dividing the party into two wrapping teams.

2. Give each team their supplies and give one minute for strategizing before letting the teams begin their mad wrapping.

3. The first team to wrap all three of their boxes completely with wrapping paper and ribbon are the winners.

Winter Activities

You don't have to be able to swoosh down the slopes like an Olympic athlete to get outside and enjoy the cold.
