I Do OverTurning Disaster Weddings into Dream Weddings

Party planning and lifestyle expert Rachel Hollis always knows how to amp up a celebration and take it from special to out of this world. She did it for I Do Over and she’s done it for countless brides and grooms through her wedding and event design firm, Chic Events. Celebrations.com was lucky enough to get a few minutes of Rachel’s time to ask her some questions about her favorite memories from the show, tips on creating your own superstar wedding, and how to really enjoy your big day.

Why did you give this couple a photo booth to make their wedding over the top?

It’s just such a fun way to add a personal touch to any couple’s wedding day. Guests always really get into it and the pictures afterwards are so fun!

Was the time constraint of the show an issue for you?

It’s always nice to have more time, but in this business we’re constantly getting things thrown at us last minute, so I’m fairly used to it.

What was your favorite experience/memory from filming?

Taking pictures with Diane was pretty hilarious. I still have the strip pinned to my bulletin board.

Have you ever done a wedding for television before? What made it different from other events you’ve designed?

I have done weddings for TV before, and there’s always something exciting about doing anything for camera. When it’s on camera you want it to be bigger than life and vibrant and fun so it really reads when viewers see it on TV

What is your number one wedding do and wedding don’t for the bride and groom?

DO – Ask for help. Even if you don’t have a planner, delegate! It’s the only way you’ll enjoy the day.

DON’T – Stress the small stuff. Honestly, you’re the only one who knows that the rose petals are slightly pinker than you were planning for. The day is supposed to be fun, don’t drive yourself crazy.
