Ruby Developer

Are you looking for a chance to play a big role in a small team? We're looking for a Full Stack developer to fill a hole on our team. You’ll be core part of the team and be involved with everything from infrastructure planning to software engineering.

Celebrations.com is first and foremost a Ruby on Rails application. We use haml for writing (/generating) HTML, Coffeescript/Backbone.js for Javascript. Also, some *nix devops skills are necessary since you’ll have a hand in administering everything from your local vagrant-backed app instance to production servers. Source control – we use git – should not be a foreign country to you.

We think you’ll have a year or two of real world experience, but we don't care much about what you look like on paper. We do care about experience writing actual real-world markup/code that is used by someone, somewhere, for someone. And we’ll want to see some of it, too: personal projects (you do have personal projects), contract work, anything that we can put our hands on that you weren't 'forced' to create. A github profile or similar would suffice, or you can send us some relevant code from projects you’ve worked on.

Working out of our NYC office (the Flatiron District) is preferred, but this position can be fully or partially remote.

To Apply: Please check out celebrations.com, then send a Resume & Cover Letter, examples of your code to nell@celebrations.com.

Director of Software Development

Looking for a chance to lead a team of talented developers? We're looking for a Director of our development team, someone to manage our software engineering efforts as well as actively write code. This individual will determine the future direction of the infrastructure, and work very closely with the Director of Product to determine the direction of the consumer facing portions of the application.

This is a great position for a Sr. Full Stack Developer looking to take on the challenge and excitement of managing a team of his/her own. The ideal candidate will have a 5+ years of real world experience, writing actual markup/code that is used by someone, somewhere, for someone. This person will also have managerial experience or a strong drive to acquire them. In addition to hands on dev work, this position requires active leadership of development activities and we are looking for someone with vision, creativity, energy and enthusiasm to take charge.

To apply, please send us a few examples of your work: personal projects (you do have personal projects), contract work, anything that we can put our hands on that you weren't 'forced' to create. A github profile or similar would suffice, or you can send us some relevant code from projects you’ve worked on.
